MLB Players To Wear Hats Honoring Florida Shooting Victims

Earlier this week, it was announced that Major League Baseball players will honor victims of last week’s shooting in Broward County by wearing Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School hats at spring training games this week.

Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred said Tuesday all 30 teams will wear the school hats during pregame warmups for their exhibition openers. Players, managers, coaches and umpires will have the option of wearing the caps during those first games. The hats might later be signed and auctioned to support those affected by the tragedy at the high school.

Manfred said MLB received a “really strong sentiment of the clubs it was the appropriate thing to do immediately.”

Caps will be autographed and auctioned off following the game. Proceeds will benefit a fund that goes directly to victims and families impacted by the tragedy.

Stoneman Douglas High School student Angelique Meneses will perform Friday’s national anthem in West Palm Beach.

Angelique is the Secretary of the Florida Association of Student Councils and a Senator of the Senior Class Board.

The Astros will also welcome Stoneman Douglas baseball head coach Todd Fitz-Gerald and his son, Eagles third baseman Hunter, who will accompany Astros GM Jeff Luhnow, as he presents the World Series trophy on the field.

The FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches is bringing back its “Big and Bright Friday Nights” that will include fireworks after the games on March 2, 9 and 23. The Astros will also have a 12-foot replica of the World Series trophy for families to take pictures with.

Sheriff Israel Must Resign: BSO Could Have Stopped Shooter

All of South Florida has been touched by the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting that left 17 dead.  We are now learning that an armed deputy, Deputy Scott Peterson, was at the building where the shooting when it was taking place, but didn’t go in to help the kids!

According to Sheriff Israel, video evidence implied that Peterson remained out for four minutes. The entire mass shooting lasted an estimated six minutes, Israel stated.

“Scott Peterson was absolutely on campus through this entire event,” Israel said. “He had been armed, he was in uniform. After seeing movie, witness statements.”

Peterson resigned on Thursday and is going to be eligible for retirement after his resignation.

Even more frustrating is that the Broward Sheriff’s office visited Nikolas Cruz and his family several times BEFORE the shooting.  The FBI had been alerted about Cruz bragging about being a “school shooter.”  The Broward Sheriff Office was aware of all this.

The deaths at the Stoneman Douglas High School could have been prevent or minimized if the Broward Sheriff’s office had been doing it job of protecting citizens in Broward County.  This all stems from a lack of leadership and professionalism from Sheriff Israel.

Sheriff Israel needs to resign.   Broward County citizens deserve to be protected and served.

66 Year Old Mom Discovers Turmeric For Arthritis Pain But Has Shocking “Super Side Effect.” Read Her Story…

Mary is just like you and me, a 66 year old with the aches and pains that come with being 66 years old. It doesn’t matter if you’re male or female the truth is, once you reach a certain age, joints in your body don’t function like they used to. It’s something that we all have to deal with. The question then becomes how we deal with that can make all the difference in the world.

Mary, an avid golfer, struggled with all of the common aches and pains that come from playing a sport with so much twisting and turning. After a normal round of golf, Mary would be stiff, have swollen joints, and be in pain…we’ve all been there.

HOW MARY’S LIFE CHANGED BY TAKING THIS TURMERIC EXTRACT SUPPLEMENT

“I am 66 years old and I play golf at least 3 times a week (weather permitting). I used to always have pain in my joints so finding something that supports bone and joint health was the reason I started taking turmeric.

After doing a bit of research I found that Advanced Turmeric was one of the most highly recommended choices for this type of premium turmeric curcumin supplement. I started taking 2 capsules daily. Within four days I started feeling much more freedom in my joints and could tell my inflammation had gone down significantly.

After a little more than a week I noticed my shoulders regained full range of motion, my knees and ankles can carry me through the whole round of golf, but that’s not all! I was having to keep a stroke counter on me to keep up with my score but after taking turmeric for 3 weeks, I could tell that I was thinking more clearly and the stroke counter was no longer needed. My brain functioning was sharper! A super side effect that was not expected!

Normally after golf, my joints would be swollen, I felt stiff and old. After taking Advanced Turmeric I noticed that my joints were no longer swollen after activities like they used to be.

I went roughly two weeks without taking turmeric and guess what? I started hearing my bones creak, ankles were swollen and I couldn’t take my full back swing again (not to mention my husband said I was cranky)!

I decided to re-order the “buy 3 get 2 free” package of Advanced Turmeric and shortly thereafter, I’m back to my old self again! No aches and pains, my swelling has gone down…and my husband said I’m back to my cheerful self again I have no doubt Advanced Turmeric is the real deal, if you’re thinking about trying it, don’t wait. I was most definitely a skeptic too, but trust me, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made.”

BENEFITS OF USING TURMERIC CURCUMIN

With so many advantages to its use documented over so long a period of time, it’s no wonder at all why Turmeric Curcumin has become a household name in health support.

Countless of doctors across the world are urging consumers to take Turmeric Curcumin on a daily basis. Not only does it help relieve arthritis and joint pain, but it also has many other amazing benefits.

Turmeric Curcumin Has Been Scientifically Shown To…

• Be a powerful natural anti-inflammatory Compound
• Bolster Immune System Defenses
• Help regulate the digestive system
• Promote mobility and flexibility
• Lead to various improvements that should lower your risk of heart disease
• Dramatically increases the antioxidant capacity of the body
• Boost and cognative function which is linked a lower risk of brain diseases
• Help arthritis patients respond very well with their pain
• Help delay aging and fight age-related chronic diseases

CAUTION: NOT ALL TURMERIC SUPPLEMENTS ARE CREATED EQUAL!

Majority of turmeric supplements on the market advertise the fact that they CONTAIN standardized 95% curcuminoids…and while they aren’t completely lying…they sure are stretching the truth!

The reason you take a turmeric supplement is to get the key ingredient curcumin and while organic turmeric root powder isn’t bad, it’s nowhere near as effective as standardized turmeric extract with 95% curcuminoids. Here’s why.

Turmeric root powder contains about 2-3% curcuminoids, remember, curcumin is the KEY active ingredient that you look for.

Now compare that to standardized turmeric extract which contains 95% curcuminoids. This formula is almost 19 times more effective! Combine this with Bioperine (or black pepper) for absorption, and you have a much more powerful turmeric supplement than ANY organic supplement!

If you’re looking for RESULTS, you want Advanced Turmeric with 1000mg of Standardized Turmeric Extract (95% Curcuminoids) per serving and be SURE it includes Bioperine because if it doesn’t, you won’t be able to get any of the curcumin into your body!

HOW CAN YOU BE SURE YOU’RE GETTING AN EFFECTIVE FORMULA?

This is the most asked question we get. In order to acheive the best results, we recommend using Advanced Turmeric. It is currently the only product on the market today that is:

• Independently Third Party Tested
• Formulated using only the Highest Quality, All Natural Ingredients
• Vegan Friendly Formula

STRmix: New DNA technology helped detectives make 2nd arrest in Jupiter triple homicide case

JUPITER, Fla. – Monday marks the one-year anniversary of a Jupiter shooting that took the lives of three young adults.

On Feb. 5, 2017, Sean Henry, 26, Brandi El-Salhy, 24, and 20-year-old Kelli Doherty were shot to death during a Super Bowl party on Mohawk Street on Mohawk Street.

Since then the fatal shootings, Jupiter police have successfully arrested and charged two men in the case.

Christopher Vasata was arrested in March while Marcus Steward was arrested in November.

Investigators said steward’s arrest was made in part thanks to newly-acquired DNA analysis technology.

Police said they found Vasata the night of the shooting not too far from the scene being dropped off by a BMW.

Vasata had been shot twice and was rushed to the hospital.

Police also discovered one of the victim’s cars had been stolen, which was later discovered along interstate 95 the next day.

Detectives found that crucial evidence was ditched in the culvert and still inside the car.

That is where investigators found the keys to that BMW, firearms, bullets, gloves and a black hooded sweat shirt.

An initial DNA analysis showed mixes of DNA, and they couldn’t match it to anyone.

Since then, the palm beach county sheriff’s office received a new technology called STRmix that allows investigators to decipher mixes of DNA, like if more than one person had their DNA on an item.

STRmix is touted on its website as an “expert forensic software that can resolve previously unresolvable mixed DNA profiles.”

This allowed investigators to make arrest Steward in the case.

There has been one other arrest in this case, Charles Vorpagel, but he is not charged in the homicides.

It was his house where all of this unfolded Super Bowl Sunday night in 2017.

When investigators went to search the house, they discovered guns, drugs and ammunition.

Vorpagel has pleaded guilty and will be sentenced Feb. 16.

‘No Electronics Week’ at Jupiter school teaches core values to kids, parents

JUPITER, Fla. – Many of you reading this article probably have a smart phone or tablet sitting right next to you at this very moment.

Research shows that by age two, 90 percent of children know how to use a tablet. Studies also show that kids eight and younger spend more time on their screens than they do reading.

But a school in Jupiter is trying out a new trick to prevent kids from getting addicted to technology.

Tree Top Academy has been exercising a ‘No Electronics Week’ for its students.

Kids, teachers and their parents pledged to turn off the TVs and put their phones down for five days straight this week.

We caught up with the kids on Thursday as they entered day four of absolutely no electronics both at school and at home.

“We noticed that every year, children’s fine motor skills like writing were decreasing every year. And we think it’s due to electronics because they’re not coloring, painting, gluing and cutting like they used to at home,” said Cassandra Keller, director of early learning at Treetop Academy. “Instead, they’re being handed phones and tablets to play games. So we said, what can we do to make parents more aware and educate them to do the old fashioned things and not just hand them a tablet at home?”

The pledge applies to all forms of media including TV, tablets, computers and video games.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, media overuse can lead to obesity, less sleep each night, delays in language, and delays in social and emotional development. The way a parent uses media can also be a strong predictor of how their child will use media.

“Electronics are not good for children’s development. It’s not what they’re doing on the electronics, it’s what they’re not doing. They’re not engaging in imaginary play, they’re not talking, they’re not developing language skills or interacting with others,” said Keller.

This week, Treetop came up with activities and lesson plans that don’t involve electronics. The children also created several artistic posters showing their pledge not to use electronics and also drew pledge books showing what they planned to do this week, such as going to the beach or making cookies.

So what can parents do for their own children at home?

• Avoid media for kids 2 years and younger
• For children ages 2 to 5-years old, try limiting media use to a total of one hour or less each day
• Keep bedrooms, mealtimes and parent-child playtimes media free for both children and parents
• Practice a “no screens” rule one hour before bedtime to promote better sleep

“Parents need to be aware. We watch would be feed them, we watch carefully to feed them healthy foods and monitor their diet so we need to monitor their technology use as well,” said Keller.

The electronic-free week at Tree Top ends on Friday but teachers say they plan to make this an annual tradition.

The school hopes other parents can take the same pledge in their own homes, too.
